SCOPOLAMINE (TRANSDERMAL)Scopolamine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness. Scopolamine is one of a group of substances known as belladonna alkaloids. Transdermal application (i.e. application of medicine through the skin) delivers reduced doses of scopolamine, which are large enough to be effective but small enough to decrease the risk of adverse side effects. |

SPIRONOLACTONESpironolactone is prescribed to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce fluid accumulation in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disease, and the long-term use of some medications. Spironolactone reduces fluid accumulation by increasing the elimination of salt and water through the kidneys. It may be used in combination with other diuretics to prevent potassium loss. Since spironolactone blocks the effects of a chemical (aldosterone) released from the adrenal gland, it can also be used to diagnose and treat an overactive adrenal gland. |

SPIRONOLACTONE AND HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE COMBINATIONSpironolactone and hydrochlorothiazide combination is prescribed to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce fluid accumulation in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disease, and the long-term use of some medications. |
SULFAMETHOXAZOLE AND PHENAZOPYRIDINE COMBINATIONSulfamethoxazole is a sulfonamide antibiotic. It acts by preventing production of the nutrients that are required for growth of the infecting bacteria. Phenazopyridine is excreted in the urine, where it exerts a topical analgesic (pain-relieving) effect on the urinary tract. This medication is not useful for any pain other than that of a urinary tract infection. |
