Heating Oil Addendum ( Added: Sun Jan 13 2008   Hits: 1) Do not let the oil level get below the one quarter (1/4) mark. Oil tank gages are not that accurate and you may be close to or even out of oil. NO OIL = NO HEAT This can also lead to the furnace sucking oil sludge off of the bottom of the tank, causing the burners to not fire properly. This may cause you to use more oil than needed to heat the house. Oil sludge may even close off the oil line requiring a furnace service call. When you move in, the furnace is in good working order and the oil tank is full.
